When the Mandalorian is trying to get his ship parts that were stolen by Jawas by acquiring an egg of a Mudhorn, he ends up fighting the mother. Mando takes a number of heavy hits but the Child then uses the Force to stop the Mudhorn long enough for Mando to kill it. The Child then falls asleep for a few days, exhausted from using the Force.

Ahsoka takes Din to a hill overlooking Grogu and Luke, where he can see Grogu but the child cannot see him. Din shows Ahsoka the gift he made for Grogu and insists that he should give it to Grogu, saying it is his right as a Mandalorian foundling. However, Ahsoka explains that seeing Din will increase Grogu's attachment, which he must be free of. He was created by The Mandalorian creator and showrunner Jon Favreau based upon his desire to explore the mystery around Yoda and his species. The character was further developed in early conversations between Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni, and the character's imagery was defined by concept artist Christian Alzmann. Grogu is mostly a work of animatronics and puppetry, although accentuated with computer-generated imagery. Favreau told The Hollywood Reporter in 2019 that Grogu was the first character he thought of when attempting to create his own "Star Wars" story. The way the show gets around this, I suppose, is Grogu’s incredibly slow aging process, where he’s already 50+ years old, as said in the pilot, and he’s essentially still a baby. Maybe more like a human six year-old. We don’t know exactly when the “Yoda species” stops being babies, but Yoda, being “old,” was reportedly 900 years old when he died. The events of The Mandalorian take place 25 years before The Force Awakens so yeah, I think there’s some time where Grogu is still a babbling baby who no one is going to force into a helmet.
